8/8/2008 Flight London to Nairobi, Safari Park Hotel

Breakfast is on our flight before we land in London.  Orange juice, coffee, croissant.  Not bad.  Overall the flight from New York to London was comfortable.

We arrive London at 6:55 am.  Get to our departure gate for our final flight.  We are on British Airways #65 departs 10:35 am, arrives Nairobi at 9:00 pm.  This flight has no empty seats so I have to say this flight was uncomfortable.  However the service was great with 2 meals and a snack.  Our first meal was chicken tarragon, carrots and green beans, salad, roll, and fruit trifle.  To drink I had tea and water.  Then we were served a snack of choice of beverage (I had coke) and pretzel nubs.  The final meal was chicken/lettuce/tomato rocket sandwich, fresh pineapple, brownie, beverage.  I had lemonade and coffee.  The movie I watched was Maid of Honor.  Unfortunately I couldn't find my flight ticket for this leg of London to Nairobi so no picture to post.

Our flight London to Nairobi departs 10:35 am and is BA65 even though this board lists AA65

Our plane London to Nairobi

It took us 2 hours to get our Kenya visas and the cost was $50 each or $100 total for both of us.  We ask for the visitor's pass for reentry into Kenya.  At the airport I use my debit card at a Barclay's Bank get some local money-13000 kmh.  6000 ksh=USD $100  A representative is waiting for us with our name on a sign.  We meet Lea who is with Pollmans.  Pollmans will be taking us through Kenya.  Driver Francis drives us to Safari Park Hotel where we will spend 2 nights 8/8-8/10.  It's dark so no picture of the hotel.  Lea tells us that  we are lucky because there will only be another couple with us in our safari vehicle.  There are 2 other vehicles with our group.  One has 7 people, the other has 6.  We are to meet in this hotel lobby Sunday 8/10 at 7:55 am.  We're told breakfast here at the hotel is served from 5:30-10:30 am.  Initially our room was #107 which had a king bed.  Since we had requested 2 beds this trip we got moved to room #106 that had 2 double beds.  Exhausted we go to bed.  Feels nice to finally sleep in a bed!
